DLNA Connection Issue Causes MC to Crash
« on: May 26, 2021, 10:07:54 am »

Background - I use JRiver to stream/DLNA to an old Sony Media Center SMP-N200 box about 8 hours a day.

I have had the problem to some degree or another for years of MC use with the program crashing.  Older MC versions seemed to tolerate DLNA connection problems to my router a little better.  With MC27 if something disrupts the connection to the router, MC27 crashes every time now.  So, this morning I decided to download the log and post it here.  I've just tolerated the problem even though it probably happens around 5-20x per week.  Since MC28 is in development, maybe the DLNA module could be made more robust. Or, maybe this is how you/JRiver want it to behave (not meant to be snarky - I'm not a coder).  I don't really know.

Log attached.  Hopefully, this is of some help to you guys.  Edit - removed because it seems this is not useful and I don't know what info is contained that could compromise my system to hackers.

Do you ever get a crash dump?  We need that to find most crashes.

If you do, could you post that?

Thanks.

I will do that but don't really know what it is or how to get for you.  I thought the log I posted had everything you need.  Sorry about that.  If you give me some more detail or reference me to some instructions I'll do my best to get the "crash dump".

There's info about logging here:
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging

It will contain a "Previous Crash.dmp" in a lot of cases.  That's what we need.

Thanks.

I have a very similar frustration. I'm streaming from an up to date current iMac running the current Big Sur and current MC 27 streaming via DLNA to my Onyx TX-8270 stereo 8 to 10 hours a day. Any internet interruption causes the the playback to hang or stop. However, a far more frustrating issue i've had for years now is that if i do anything in the MC27 app, such as change a song's rating, import a new song, edit a playlist, etc, the DLNA on my stereo receiver goes into a loop continually repeating the currently playing song over and over. If i stop the playback and back up to the playlist menu and then reselect a playlist, it goes back to working as expected, until i make another change in MC.
