Hello.
My current PC with MC, which is only used for this with the minimum non-essential installed, is already years old (more than 14...) with a good processor from back then in socket FM1. It's in a box with an integrated touch screen, etc.
It started with win 7, from then to win 10. After all these years, the library is very large, it handles more than 12 TB of music, almost 600,000 songs, and the PC can't take it anymore, it does miracles. Browsing the library, playing HD files at the same time, etc. is already very cumbersome. And I want agility.

I'm going to change everything, and it will be with an AMD 5600G (very low heat, and no noise to cooling, but with power) with 32GB of RAM on an NVMe SSD and Win 11. The non SSD hard drives are industrial NAS type, capable of almost 300 MB/sec.

My problem comes because I remember that when I changed from win 7 to win 10 yars ago, already with 64 bits then (problem was go to 64 bits from 32 bits, reinstalling all again), I had to rescan the entire library (much smaller than now) and it took more than a day (I don't remember very well but it was a long time...)
I'm not referring to the backup that can be made of the library, but to returning to the situation where I saw all the disks with their covers, etc. I want it to restore everything directly if possible, and repeat as little as possible of what I did then.

And here comes the question.
With everything that MC has already created in the current installation, any type of internal file, whatever, is it possible to make the move to the new computer taking what is necessary from the current installation and take it to the new one so that when installing the new MC (already the 33rd as I see) the entire set of disks, etc. is delayed as little as possible, without taking more than a day?

And if possible, what exactly must be copied and that the new installation references it directly?
There is a solution that I don't like at all because it can cause many problems, and that is that since the current processor is AMD (old) and the new one too, start that installation on the new PC and update to win 11 which will already be compatible. It's a botch job, but it's feasible...

Please take a look at Moving Files on the wiki.

Also, recent versions of MC can backup your settings and restore them.

Moving to the same location helps (C:\Movies, for example).  Once you've got everything moved, you can use MC's Rename, Move, and Copy tool to rearrange locations.

I recently changed from a 12 year old Intel Mac Mini running Windows 10 to a Beelink Ryzen 6600H based mini-PC.  The Mac Mini had two internal SSD’s.  One was the C drive, another used for media was lettered “L.”

I backed up the library from the Mac Mini to an external drive.
I set up the BeeLink so that it had two internal ssd drives.  I assigned the one for media as “L” to match the Mac Mini.
I installed HDHomeRun to access my network tuners, installed JRiver Media Center, and imported the library I’d backed up from the Mac Mini.

That’s all.  There was no lengthy import process.
As long as you set it up so that the paths to your files do not change, it’s quick and simple.

I remember that last time when I dumped the backup, many of the disk covers appeared empty and I had to manually assign them again, and even rescan disk drives manually because they did not appear (and all the disks were named the same way).
The issue of the covers is what took me the longest.
It is true that it was quite a while ago, and as you are telling me, the latest versions of MC are already better in this aspect. Since the PC is already very old, I am one of those who think "if something works, don't touch it ... too much." It works perfectly but it is already very difficult to move everything, and that is only with the MC and the essentials.
I want to update everything to the latest and I hope to do it before Christmas.

This is just a guess but I suggest checking the Protection history in Windows Defender to see if Media Center is being blocked in accessing the disk drive and if so, click Action then allow this program (don't remember the exact wording). I have DEP and Protected Folder access enabled for security so I have to allow some programs that I use which want to access folders and drives (DBPoweramp, Wise Care, Calibre, etc.). The kinds of error message displayed or the behaviours (with no error messages) don't clearly point to Windows Defender but there are sometimes notifications that something has been blocked (I leave Do Not Disturb on to minimize notifications).

It's possible that the art was not embedded in the audio file.  Read about cover art on the wiki.

If you move your cover art folder, make sure you set its location in MC.  Then you can right click on files and do the Quick Find.
