MJ 3.0.379: Volume Slider
« on: September 29, 2002, 01:19:27 pm »

The volume control doesn't move.  When MJ starts up, the control reflects the current position of the system volume setting, attempting to 'slide' it does adjust the volume -- but -- the MJ volume slider itself doesn't move.

On another note... the MJ volume control adjusts the master system volume, would be nice if MJ had it's own volume setting independant of the system.  i.e. Windows Media Player volume settings are separate of the main volume.

Re-installing your sound card driver might work.

...to correct the MJ volume slider not working properly, or to allow MJ to have it's own volume settings independant of the master volume?

My soundcard is working fine, is there something in particular this would correct?

Have the same problem:

In "Mega-Me" Volume control changes when curser moves
over the volume control, but the slider does not move in either
direction. Volume control is independent of the operating
system volume control and the system volume control slider
does not move when I change the volume in "Mega-Me"

In "Mini-me" the same, except here the coloured MJ volume
slider does move left and right to reflect the current
system volume.

Using WinXP on Sony Vaio GRX notebook
Problem occurs with both MJ versions (V8 + V9)

PS Can't reinstall the sound card driver without
rebuilding the whole machine.

Why would you need to rebuild the machine to reinstall the driver???  Nobody said to reinstall the sound card just the software driver that XP uses to communicate with your card.  Its just a case of downloading a driver from a website and running the exe...

NoCodeUK

Because everything needs to be Un-Soldered and then put back on each card in the same orginal order they were removed.

get with the program.

Not sure if this'll work for you, but...  The suggestions here to reinstall the sound card driver didn't help.  I had a program called "Total Recorder" installed -- nice program, but created a few problems once installed.  I uninstalled it, and the MJ slider problem went away.

Thanks to the person who encouraged me to reinstall the
sound driver. Had some resistance to doing that but I
finally worked out how to do it on WindowsXP without having
to dig out and search the four manufacturers start up CDs.

That seemed to do the trick. Volume slider works and
not only that but bot MJ-Slider and System Sound slider
move in harmony.

The remark about Totalrecorder is valid also. As soon
as I reinstalled the sound card, Total record insists
that the program is not installed properly. It seems
Total recorder does interfere at with the correct
operation of the sound card.

This is not a hassle though, because I hardly use Total
Recorder at all and am willing to intall and uninstall
as desired.

The whole sound interaction stuff in Windows seems
dated and does not correspond to the music/multimedia
capabilities of modern PCs anymore.  :)
