Beginning with 9.0.131, the "Web or FTP Upload" is working well. It can resize as part of the process.
Here's how it works.
Run MC 9.0.131 or higher.
Select the pictures you want. Test a few before you do a lot.
It's best if they aren't too big -- 640x480 is ideal in most cases.
Right click on your selection and choose Send To/Progams/Web or FTP Upload.
The destination server is the address of your web server and a directory (optional). Here's an example:
www.jriver.com/~jriver/public_html/2003/mytripNote that a single new directory can be created automatically, but this won't work for "two deep". In other words if the directory /public exists, then you can get the Web upload to make /public/new but not /public/new/two.
If you're using it to create a web page, check the box for creating an index file. Call it index.html or similar.
Choose a title and subhead. "My Pictures", "from Colorado", for example.
At this point, you have the option of resizing. In most cases, you should. 640x480 works well. Experiment to find out what works for you.
Some of the progress messages still don't work right, so wait for the program to complete, even if it looks like nothing is happening. It should take about a minute to resize ten pictures and it could take many minutes to upload them if you're using a modem.
Once you have resized, then press OK. That begins the upload.
The result will be a page that looks something like this:
www.jriver.com/photos/jimh
