Is there a way I can start Media Server on another computer on my local network?

Hi Tim,

There's no way built in to Media Center. However, there are programs that all complete remote control of a PC, you could use one of these. Unfortunately, I don't know their names. Anyone help out?

Windows XP has Remote Desktop Sharing built in.
You could also try Symantec's PCAnywhere.
I'm sure there are heaps more, but those are the two i know of.

Scott.

I used Remote Desktop Connection but does it only allow one person to be signed onto the destination machine at one time?

If I sign on with the same name that's already signed on it automatically kicks the signed on name off which means I need to go to that machine afterwards to sign it on again so it'll take care of "unattended" tasks.

If I sign on with a different user name it pops a notice at the destination machine to logoff which removes the unattended angle.

Thanks! :)

I'm sure you could use Girder and it's Internet Event server for that.

Darn I love this program, I upgraded MC10 on two computers last night without leaving my living room.  Thanks again!
