slide show help requested
« on: June 27, 2004, 10:02:23 am »

I would like a default set of photos to automatically start playing and to have Auto Pan automatically enabled.

I do not want to put the photos into a song play list.

Is there any way in MC to accomplish this?

(in other words, i want this default behaviour to happen upon startup so the person starting it does not have to do anything at all, no menus, no selecting of Auto Pan.)

Thanks in advance,

Rob.

Check the image display options.  Start a slide show and right click on the screen.

Thanks jim, but...

(in other words, i want this default behaviour to happen upon startup so the person starting it does not have to do anything at all, no menus, no selecting of Auto Pan.)

Thanks, but not sure if that gets to it.  I dont want to have the person right click on anything.

1)  Is there a way to make it "auto Pan" automatically with NO right clicking.

2)  Is there a way to set a default IMAGE playlist, so that no matter what music is started, a slide show starts up with a selected IMAGE playlist and (see 1 above) is autopanning by default.

I'm not sure you can do everything you want, but double clicking on an image in a list of images can start the list playing as a slide show.  Playback options allow switching to full screen when images are displayed.  So any list of files can become a slideshow.

thanks for you help jim.

Please consider this a Feature Request for version 11:

1)  in Startup Options have a startup Music playlist and a startup Images playlist.  I know this goes against the idea of having both images and songs in one playlist, but that never feels comfortable to me to mix the two.

2) a more discrete set of controls around creating saved Slideshows... maybe a wizard or dialog box that you can create slideshows by picking songs and pictures.  This is features that already exist today, but making them more usable.  I  am thinking then that i would have saved slideshows 1 through 10, each being different combinations of image and song playlists and each with saved settings for panning, special effects, random/vs. order,.   A super bonus would be the ability to burn that to a DVD. (So my definition of "slideshow" = a set of images that may or may not be in a set order played along with a set of songs that may or maynot  be in a set order, with a saved option set for that particular slideshow).  Okay, now for extreme extra points.... figure out how to stream images AND music over to Tivo!!!   ;D   ( i'm pretty sure that on is out of your control!)

3) have an option in the dialog boxes that is "Auto Pan By Default".  You do have "Auto pan upon Zoom", which franlky i dont quite understand the intent.  I check that, and then everytime I start a slide show, I scroll my mouse wheel to zoom a picture to start autopan or i right click and select it.  I dont see why this option could not be implemented today in v. 10.
