Do you have Media Jukebox or Media Center?

Either way, try importing in smaller batches. Most of these problems are because of a corrupt music file.

Jim,

I downloaded and installed Media Center and I am unable to import any of my files to it either.  I have other media players on my PC and this is the only one that I cannot import my files to.   Do you think I shoud just "Give up" on Media Jukebox?  It appears to be a worthwhile player.
Thanks,  Cpennyspal

We've begun seeing this problem in the last couple of months.  I think it's another program that writes bad headers in MP3 files.  Try importing only a single type of file (wav, for example) to see if that's it.

If it is, we wrote some defensive code that is in the latest builds of Media Center 11 (available in a thread on this board).

Search for "xing" to read more.

I'm sorry I can't help more.

When I try to opem Media Jukebox, I receive a message:  "You are attempting to open a database that is too new for this version fo Media Jukebox.  Please upgrade to the newest version of Media Jukebox"

What does this mean and how do I upgrade to a newer version.  I do not want to purchase Media Jukebox until I am sure I will be able to import my files to it.   So far, I am unable to do so without it freezing up and disconnecting.

Delete your current library.  They are the files that end in .jmd and are located (usually) in your Program Files/JRiver /Media Jukebox/Data directory.

Cpennyspal,
I had the same problem using Media Center version 10.  To solve the problem, I uninstalled Media Center, ran a full system check using Norton System Works (both Disk Doctor and WinDoctor. - System Works is a valuable tool and I recommend you get it if you don't already have it), allowed System Works to repair errors (I chose the solutions myself as sometimes Norton screws up, but if you're not really an advanced user then Norton's automatic fix is good enough), restarted my system, ran a second system check just to make sure and then reinstalled Media Center.  After that, Media Center started right up and I was able to import all the media on my computer.  You were right when you said that Media Center appears to be well worth it - this is the coolest, most inclusive media program I have ever come accross.  Kudos to whomever came up with this concept to begin with.
   Hope that solves your problems.

Re:Import media UPDATE

I hav etried imprting 100K songs with MediaCenter 10, 11(Beta) and the program "MediaCore" crashes.

Interestingly Media Jukebox  can import everything fine

This is a recently introduced issue - post 10.015x

11/14/04:
I have figured out a workaround for this:

1)  Import using Media Jukebox 8
2)  Then use Media Center

Not very satisfactory, but atleast it works.  It would be good to make sure that future version of MC do not have this bug :-)
