Origin

Shakespearian, although it doesn't appear in that form in any of his writing. Shakespeare used snow as a symbol for purity and whiteness in several plays. In The Winter's Tale - Autolycus: Lawn as white as driven snow. In Macbeth - Malcolm: black Macbeth will seem as pure as snow.

Morally unsullied, chaste, as in She's just sixteen and pure as the driven snow. This simile dates from the late 1500s, although driven, which means “carried by the wind into drifts,” was occasionally omitted. It is heard less often today.

I'm sensing a coverup here.  Have you noticed that SwellGuy and Bill Gates are never seen in the same room together?  Up till now you probably thought it was just coincidence, but let me point out  that "SwellGuy" is an anagram of "Bill Gates", with some minor changes in spelling and a few letters left over.  And I think JimH's answer is particularly cryptic:  "Pure as the driven snow?"  It's JUNE, JimH!  You thought we wouldn't notice that?

When KingSparta chimes in quoting random Elizabethians, it only confirms it:  MC11 development is caught in a time warp.  And for SwellGuy/BillGates to show up at the very moment that KingSparta starts shapeshifting?  PULLEASE!!
