Disc not found in CDDB or YaDB

I have some discs that I made from old LPs... I would like to Rip them now, but the look ups don't find them. I can't find a way to input the artist and title to force a look up. (I can do it in the Recorder tool... So can it be added to the Ripper function??)
I actually had to go back and use the Windows Media Player because it has the Get Names function..... It was not a lot of fun....

Both CDDB and YADB are designed to look at some "signature" aspects of a cd to determine which album it is. Even though you copied a complete pre-existing vinyl album to cd, you technically made a new cd, which would not be in either CDDB or YADB.

Yes, that would be a neat idea. If you can get that going, you can create a MJ version of SuperTagging. ;D

Doesn't Gracenote use sample comparisions to decide what CD you just popped in? I remember once reading that FreeDB used the embedded CD#(or was it sku?)? Isn't that why you see multiple cd singles coming up under a query, because with CD singles they don't get "distinct" embedded numbers?

Or how does it all really work? That would be interesting to find out.

The CD lookup is based on the CD table of contents, which contains minutes, seconds, and frame (the frame number of the start of the song). A hash is computed from the minutes and seconds, and this together with the frame numbers is used as an index into the database. The FreeDB site has a pointer to the original algorithm on their site under "developers".

Single track lookup is different .

I Thought a CD TOS was based on Each Track Size On The CD (That Will Equate To Mins For Each Track) And The Number Of Tracks On The CD.

      What system or site does the MJ Recorder use to get the tracks??  I assume this feature would do the same..
