Make sure you have the right OS and the right version of MC selected.

Use IE and visit this page to start:

http://accessories.jrmediacenter.com/mediacenter/accessories.php

Which plug-in did you try?  For what version of MC?

Hello Holland.  Your English is fine.

IE = Internet Explorer

Not all browsers behave the same.

I believe that support for that device is only in MC11.  Yaobing will have more to say.

Which WinTV PVR model do you have?

Models 250/350 are marginally supported in MC 10. They are better supported in MC 11. Model 150 is only supported in MC 11.

Make sure you are not using the TV device in another application (such as Hauppauge's WinTV2000). Do you get the same error even after a clean reboot?

Hello Yaobing,

Sorry it took so long. But I have tried to get as much information as I could get.

I have downloaded the latest version of MC (11.0.263)
Sorry, it didn't help.

I checked the hardware in the computer, and on the sticker it says:
PAL - B/G
32034 REV B248

According to the information in the computer the machine says it is:
Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (Encoder-16)

According to the drawning in the help file from winTV2000 it must be a WINTV-PUR-250 Model.

And when I open winTV32K, the help file, al the information down here.

Model 32034 Rev. B248
Serial #6159550
Tuner Formats: PAL (B/G)
Tuner Audio: Stereo (MSP3415)
Video Formats: NTSC ( 443 ) PAL ( B G H I D K N ) SECAM ( L L' )
Audio Outputs: None
External Inputs: 3
S-Video Inputs: 2
Teletext: Yes (Software)
Radio: None
Decoder: SAA7115
Tuner Model: LG TPI8PSB11D

EEprom Contents:
84 09 00 04 20 77 00 40 be fc 5d 00
73 05 86 00
84 08 00 06 22 7d 00 00 18 25 89
72 07 70
73 09 13 5f

74 0b 98 18 0c
72 0f 01

preview graph has not been build.
It most likely will give the same result, but please try this if you have not yet tried:

Drives & Devices > TV Tuner,  click the Options button (next to the Watch button).

Also, could you watch a channel if you enter the channel number from the key-pad above the "Available Channels" list window?

Sorry Yaobing, but neither of them is working.

I got two Error messages.
The first seems to be from Windows or from Hauppauge and says:
Preview graph has not been build

The second message is from MC.

Unknown Error.
Make sure that the path in your media Library points to the right location.

Both messages are from MC, not from Windows.

One problem with WinTV PVR 250 devices is that Hauppauge made many versions of them, each seems to behave a little differently. Besides, it would be difficult for me to test a PAL version.

Here are some long shots:

1. Make sure you have the latest drivers from Hauppauge.

2. If you have DirectX 9.0b on your machine, make sure you update it by either installing a newer version from Microsoft (DirectX 9.0c) or installing a hotfix for 9.0b at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=8dfd1b6d-e177-4a0e-91d0-b4310675b02b.

3. Try "Reset TV Settings" button.

Good morning Yaobing,

You're great. But not the greatest

I do have pictures on my TV now, but no sound.

I followed your instructions, and installed from Hauppauge the hole new installation from PVR 250.

Stupid thing is that he called it PVR 150.

The irremote.dll is new. version 2.45.22350.0 (instead of 2.16.20258.0)
The Psapi.dll is still the same.

I still haven't done your second option, and dowload drivers from Microsoft (Only from Hauppauge).
Should I still do option 2????

Hauppauge should have drivers for PVR150 as well as PVR250 and 350. Make sure you install the correct one for your device. The behavior of 150 is quite different from that of 250.

For sound, make sure you go to Options > Audio tab, and uncheck the "This device requires a cable to route sound directly to the sound card" checkbox.

You should do it only if you currently have DirectX 9.0b, and only if you can not get it to work after trying my suggestions above.

Try this:

Control Panel > DirectX

In the resulting window, click DxDiag button. You should see the info on the System tab.

My version is 9.0C (4.09.0000.0904)

That should be a good version. You do not need to install the DirectX hotfix.

Do you still have no sound after unchecking the "This device requires a cable to route audio directly to the sound card"?

I have still no sound.

I even have more problems.

I first have to start and shut down Win Tv, otherwise I get no pictures at all.
When I start the tv tuner
I got the message:
in the blue top area: PlaybackEng
Message: Failed to access tv tuner in make menu options.
When I close this message, the tv pictures closes as well.

I get after this the next message:
Media Center encountered errors while trying to play last several files.
Please make sure that the path in your media library points to the right location.

And still no sound.

Ben,

It looks like your device driver is not compatible. If you are willing to do further testing, please send me an email, yaobing at jriver dot com, and I will email you a new version of TV compoment for testing.

My 2cents worth:
I was getting the same error for a different card and turned out to be that Aver had a program running in the system tray that got hidden because of Windows XP's handling of unused tray icons. Once I closed it I was able to see the video though it is not working yet completely. (Another thread for my problem)

Ben has found out that Pinnacle Studio installation was causing problem with his WinTV PVR 350 in MC. His perseverance paid off.

For the benefit of other users who may have the same problem, I copy his message to this board.

Quote
Hurray Hurray, it's a holliday.

Yaobing,

I finally found out the problem.
Together with the hauppauge tv card I could install another one called sirrus logic usb-dvr2 source.
After I googled a little bit I find out that there were more people having trouble with this video option or card or whatever it is.

When I looked in the register I saw that this sirrus Logic is part of Pinnacle studio 9.?? (I don't know exactly the version)

After I reinstalled Pinnacle and WINTV2000 and all other programs who where involved with TV I finally had the TV channels.

MC11.1 asked me what country and if I had cable or Antenne. You must know that I have pushed the audio channel button for about 1000 times, and nothing happened.

I thought that was it. But again I had no sound. I reinstalled version 11.1.46 and installed version 11.0.136. No sound  . and I must say that the quality of the picture was not so very good allso.

I installed the latest version of WINTV2000 and there it was.

After installing the latest updated drivers of WINTV2000 the quality of the picture was very good.

So I think that Pinnacle is having trouble with MC. If you want me to send any logfile or whatever you need for backup please let me know.

Greetings,

Ben.
