I've been watching Rocketboom (www.rocketboom.com) since about episode 340.  They're on about #410 now.

I know about a few other good ones, but is anyone else out there watching them?  If so, what do you like?

The only ones I've been watching with anything approaching regularity are the ones at Kevin Rose's Revision3.  Some of them are awesome though...

I am not into video podcasts yet. There is only so much time and watching videos takes about all of your concentration. I'd rather spend time with DVD movies when I can. (Though, Carolyn's reports are nice and not too long.)

I should say... Much like Podcasts are the future of radio, I think VideoCasting is definately the future of television (and probably movies too).  ...Much to the chagrin of the "Infotainment Industry" I suppose!

Podcasts can include audio, video, or images.  I think they may be the "object oriented programming" that will partially replace TV and radio. 

Is videocasting different, in your mind?

Not at all!!  In fact, I think we'll see new types of "*casting" in the future, including Machinima-casting and "Fusion-casting" which will include a blend of video/audio/text/still/hypertext elements.

I thought I'd mention.... I've gotten fairly into a few Video Podcasts recently.

One of my favorites is DL.tv.  This is hosted by many of the people you might remember from the old TechTV Screen Savers show (before G4 bought the network and ruined it completely), including: Patrick Norton, Robert Heron, and Roger Chang (and Kevin Rose visits every so often).

The video cast is available in a variety of formats, including DivX, MPEG4, and MOV-wrapped H264 (and plain old MP3 for listening on those long commutes).  Works great with MC.

I am not up on the latest standards, so tell me if this is possible today.

A big problem I have with both both Podcasts and VideoCasts is, as someone mentioned, you need to give your full attention.

If I had a long train/metro commute every day, I would load up and it might be worth the effort.

But one drawback I have had with many podcasts and videos is that the content creators package a whole "show" or episode.  I would like a very clear "table of contents" and the ability to quickly jump to the next story (track or bookmark) in the episode.  It seems most podcasts give you a description, but then you have to fast forward to find the bits you want.  I think Audible content has bookmarks, but not sure how that works.

So I would want much more granular pieces ("nuggets"), each with a good description and meta data, and an RSS aggregator (or MC) that pulls them in based on keywords, other users ratings, social networking relationships (i..e my friends are watching something), rather than the bundles of content in many current podcasts.  Basically to pull in GoogleTube video clips regardless of source, rather than me subscribing to a given source for every one of their episodes.

I think some of that is here today and some is coming soon.

I would be curious of those watching video casts as to what device you are watching on: PC, main television or iPod.

Just some thoughts.

On my HTPC, which I guess means my answer is: TV, but using MC.
