More on YADB is here:

Please use the new thread on YADB for discussion of YADB, so we can keep this thread for bugs.

I think everyone is waiting for v9.

I also don't see any bugs. I'm running 1102 and everything is great.

Not so much a bug as a policy dispute:

I see your use of Replay Gain is still aiming at 83 dB while the rest of the music community seems to have adopted 89 dB as the standard goal.

This creates a problem for me.  I use MP3Gain to adjust all my mp3 files to play back at 89 dB.  If MJ's implementation of Replay Gain is turned on, it applies an average of it's own analyzings to files that don't have MJ's tags.  This then modifies playback of the files that were just fine already.

Ogg Vorbis files are another matter.  I use VorbisGain to add RG tags to my ogg files and MJ ignores them because MJ has its own way of dealing with RG in ogg files.  So again, if there is no MJ RG tag, an average is applied.

With so much second guessing going on, I might as well not try to use Replay Gain at all and just keep my hand on the volume control.

Right now it seems my best bet is to leave Replay Gain turned off in MJ, use MP3Gain on my mp3 files, and use WaveGain on my wav files before encoding them to .ogg or burning to CD.

Another choice is to forget adjusting the Replay Gain on the files and use a compressor/limiter plugin for playback.  I like DFX and Octimax. (Note, if you buy the Winamp version, you can use it in both Winamp AND Media Jukebox.)

Anyway, could we at least get the RG setting in line with the rest of the digital music players - 89 dB?

So LC, did you see the BPM?  That was for you.

We had a long (well, 5 minute) discussion about 83 vs 89db yesterday.  The outcome was, oh man, who knows?

On the one hand, David Robinson is the authority.  He says 83.

On the other hand, a group of dissidents have decided on 89.

What are we to do?

We decided that (we think) we will set a flag for whether the gain is ours or theirs.  But it won't happen until v9.

I Was trying to find a disk that the db could not find, 3 try

after it could not find the cd, it did not bring up any dialog like CDDB did to force a user to submit info.

so there was track1, 2, 3, etc..

And the db allowed me to submit that (i don't think it should allow blank info, Track 1, 2, 3 etc...)

After I Submited the disk 2 times

i went to "Update From DB"

And the service sent me a dialog, multible matches found and showed me two matches both were

1. \
2. \

this is due to submiting blank info.

The 3rd time I entered all info thru properties and saved.

MJ told me error saving info to tags (not sure why it would try since it is a cd)

and then i submited (well sort of, I normaly don't submit to anyone, but i will for you)

after i submited i dumped the data from the tags\MJ DB

and then updated from the server YADB and it filled in all the standard fields.

it did not however fill in the rating, comments etc....

Some of this info could be handy

so if i had in the comments "Peaked Charts At 05 In 1966" that might be handy.

When updating to MJ 8.0.355, in the "File Association" portion of the update, associating wav files comes at the top of the list as "wav. (The single quotation mark is there ... that's waht puts it at the top of the list. Of course we select it.
When running MJ 8.0.355, in "Options" "File Associations", no "wav exists and wav is not selected.
It's a small bug but it's a real one. It's easily corrected but it's mine, I found it so there.

This may have been dropped until v9, but accidentally hitting the mouse wheel during text entry in the Find Files box produces annoying behavior.

JimH,

Sorry, but no, I can not find any reference to BPM in MJ 8.0.355.  I looked in the mp3 input plugin configuration; I looked in 'Tree and View Settings'; I looked in file 'Properties'; I looked in the Help.  No mention of BPM!  If you're not teasing me, could you please tell me where to access BPM for ID3v2 tags?

89dB vs. 83dB:
David Robinson may be the authority, but it seems he has not updated his web pages in a long time. The page about calibration ( http://privatewww.essex.ac.uk/~djmrob/replaygain/calibration.html ) was last updated Wednesday, August 29, 2001 3:01:18 PM.  I think he has changed his mind since then.  Also on the page about software that supports Replay Gain he states "* No Players support Replay Gain - yet! Will you be the first?" (Last updated Tuesday, October 16, 2001 1:41:06 AM).  We know this is no longer true.  I think we need a fresh statement from David on the current target replay level that Replay Gain is attempting to achieve.

This is weird but mega-me and mini-me are both running at the same time. Everything in mega-me works except the right pane.

I also see stuff like this when viewing mega-me in full screen mode where the vis window is viewable but non responsive.

Dooh..
I've always liked MJ to remember the sorting order in Playing now that one choose. Since that never happened, I was forced to re-order it every time I went out and in of Playing now. I can live with that, even though it's somewhat cumbersome to keep clicking those columns each time.

But now...if a song is selected |PLS| currently playing and I re-order the list, it doesn't stay in focus anymore (and therefore the list doesn't show the currently playing song when next song plays)! This means that not only do I have to set the order as I like it (4 clicks in the columns), but also scroll through the list until the currently playing song appears on screen!

This is a new (and hopefully a bug) behaviour...

Sounds fuzzy? It usually do when I try to explain things :) But it really bothers me...

Well.....good news.....I found a bug!

It's seems that ALL my CD's, (witch MJ has in it's local data base, since I all ready have used CDDB on them) have lost there track names!

Every CD I put in the drive have lost it's name, if I update the track info from CDDB and then reinsert the CD everything is fine...

Take that Jim!

2 things:

1. Options/CD Info database, Settings button: Sometimes I get 'Not available with YADB' whichever one is selected, and sometimes the CDDB settings box, also whichever one is selected. It always displays one type of behaviour or another, but I cant figure out what makes it change from one to the other. Also the CDDB Registration button in CDDB settings dialog doesnt appear to do anything.

2. Attempting to connect to an IP address through Media Server crashes MJ. In this case the IP is 24.88.229.242.:80 (KingSpartas top 40 library). Might not be connected with this build, but I have no other IPs to try.

Uh Oh...   Very bad news for Media Server users.

The 355 client "Dr Watson"s when connecting to a 355 or 348 server.
A 348 client has no problems connecting to a 355 or 348 server.

Tried it on 3 different machines.
Reinstalls are no help.

MJ is also not picking up track names from CD-TEXT.  It picks up CD Title and CD Artist OK but the track names all default to "Track n".  EAC and Nero both pick up the track names fine.

If you try to then look the CD up with either database and it's not found, MJ wipes out the CD-TEXT artist and album title.  You have to delete the MJ database entry and re-insert the CD to get them back.

When deleting a file in playing now (with delete from harddisk turned on) and there is a song playing, the song keeps on playing but there is no possibility anymore to see what's playing.

Tiny little bug:

In the Z skin for Mega-Me, the button in the top right corner to switch between Maximize and Restore always has the symbol for Maximize.

I only saw this because I got tired of the unskinned version always starting up with the toolbar buttons un-colored and decided to try a skin.

Oops, that's two bugs isn't it?

Beginning with this build, the Windows Installer dialog box appears briefly (less than 1 sec) every time I launch MJ.  Not critical, but fairly annoying.

Ripping to MP3 cbr, 256Kbs. When I try, Windows crashes. Blue Screen. No Action. Power off is the only option. Restart and download the MP3 plugin. Works great for three CD's and then crash. Re-download MP3 encoder and all works great for about three CD's and then crash.

Also, can't get YADB to work. No info. Blank screen. Switching to CDDB requires a Windows restart to function.

I think I found a bug...  ;)  Here's the steps I took that caused the "problem".

I stared a burn on an audio CD at 24X using 16X discs.  When the burn failed (presumably because of the discs), the only dialogue I received was the Close button, meaning (I thought) the CD burning.  I clicked the close button and MJ returned back to normal.  I then dropped the burning speed and attempted to burnthe disc again.  When I clicked the start button in the burner dialogue, MJ tried to resume the burn from where it left off!  This caused another coaster.  I then clicked cancel to cancel the burn.  That worked and MJ then allowed me to burn the entire disc again with no errors.  Anyone else have this problem?
