Spliting directories
« on: November 28, 2007, 11:20:17 am »

I always put my files in a directory called MediaJukeBox but for some reason the J River
directory always ends in up in C:/Programs directory.  How can I keep everything in a
directory I want together.

Hi Skylar,

What directory are you talking about? There are several: the directory for executables and DLLs, the directory for the library itself, and the directory/directories for content.

I like to keep all my MC files in one folder:  D:/MediaJukeBox/*  and put my files there when asked when initially but again I noticed that not all files when
into this directory and MC created another folder in C:/Program Files/JRiver

This isn't something we've heard before.  For example, I never use "Program Files" on my home machine since it's such a black hole.  Media Center nicely stays right where I put it.  You just have to pick the custom folder during the initial install.

Could you provide the exact names of stray files if you think there's a problem?

Its "J River"

I try not to put anything in my C directory unless its Windows related
and always put everything else in my D directory.  I did choose my
D:/MediaJukeBox when initially loading but "J River" went in to C:/Programs Files

Thanks,  Skylar

How to test this:
Make a backup of your library.
Remove Media Center.
Make sure the files are gone from C:\Program Files\J River
Install Media Center.
See if they are back again.

I'd bet these files are from an older installation, perhaps one of the ones we did while debugging the icon issue a while ago.

Where is the backup utility and how do I get everything back once
I've reinstalled from the backup.

Thanks for your help.
