Question About MJ12
« on: December 13, 2007, 03:08:41 am »

It says that since this is an "early build" it will time out in April 2008.  Does this mean it won't be free after then?  Will I have to then download another one?  What is an "early build"?  When is the "regular build" going to be released?

An early build is an early version of the software.

A timeout can be common in young versions of software when the developers are not absolutely sure of potential issues. This prevents those issues from existing longer than the intended life of the version, which perhaps would result in giving the company a bad image indefinitely if there were no timeout. Once the software has been locked down and the developers are confident with the work, the timeout would typically be removed. I wouldn't read any conspiracies into it.

We will release a free build without a timeout before April.

Early build probably doesn't describe it anymore.

We were least sure of the feature set.  It's pretty close now.
