Hi Alex,
Thanks for your patient explanation.
Scanning locations:
When I first installed, I was offered an opportunity to limit what was to be scanned (as you describe) and did so.
However, as soon as I logged in under a different account, MC started building a new library of everything it could find on the system.
It seems that my originally chosen preferences werre stored in a user profile and didn't affect the second login.
If settings are user-specific, I suggest automatically running a wizard to help each user who hasn't run the program before set things up.
Personally, I would prefer system-wide settings, or at least an installation option to make them so. Is there such an option?
Anyone concerned about security will be installing the program from an administrative account but will be running it from an account with lower privileges, so the options offered during installation won't help unless the settings (at least the important ones) are universal.
File tagging options:
Unfortunately, "Get cover art" (Albumcover herunterladen) and "Also store image in the file's tag" (Bilder auch in Dateitags speichern) were selected by default. Some damage appears to be already done, although judging from their time stamps only about 150 files were changed before I terminated MC. Fortunately, I made a complete backup before installing MC.
Language:
I was offered a choice of language when installing build 50, but don't recall seeing such an option during the automatic update to build 65.
IAC, build 65 seems to have been installed in German, or perhaps this setting is also user-specific. I finally found the languages menu under "Tools" (Extras).
Thanks for your support!
