license and authorization problems.
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:00:29 pm »

I have just purchased a key.
I was directed to a page with my new registration code.
I chose to save it as a file.

Then I began to install MediaCenter 160086.
I wanted it to be a portable install, but when trying to install portable i got
a message saying I can't install portable unless i'm registered.
Ok, so I double clicked my registration key, but there's no program to open it with.
So i gave up and installed the usual way.
After installation I opened the program, and chose help\install license and directed
the program to my .mjr file and got a message error restoring media center license. invalid license, error code=22.
so I went back to the registration page which was still open and clicked on the code. it opened
Media Center, but it still shows unregistered.
Next I go to the restore page. There I enter the code, and soon after I get an email saying that i have restored a license,
and now only have 9 restores left.
and still my program is unregistered, and still when trying to register it with help\install license
i get again the 22 error code message.

I hope that's clear enough, and I'd love to get help.

Thanks

Please uninstall any previous version you may have.

Don't try a portable install until you have successfully licensed MC16.

From your description, it sounds like you purchased before you installed.  How?

Double clicking the mjr file in Explorer should cause MC to register the license.

Thanks, all is well now.

I had an older version installed from which I selected help\purchase and then downloaded the latest version.

If I want a portable install now, how do I go about it?

Thanks

Just run the installer again. As long as you have a registered copy on the computer you shouldn't have any problems installing the portable version.
