Failed to connect audio decoder/splitter error
« on: January 14, 2012, 03:44:30 am »

I saw there was an old thread trying to solve this

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=65661.0

Because this is happening to me in 17, so I thought I may as well open a new thread in the correct forum corresponding to the problem.

Has anyone had any luck solving this? Or at least found a workaround?
Just to clarify this error pops up when I am viewing video not audio.

Could it be my codec pack? Before I used to use the codec pack Glynor recomens on many of his threads but a while back I switched to K-Lite.. Although it is only recently I have started getting problems - Although it is only quite recent that I  have started using MC heavily for video as well..

Thanks

There have been many posts about codecs/filters/etc installed outside of MC causing problems. You should really remove your Codec Pack and just use the ones that MC automatically downloads and installs.
I think the threads you are referring to are from (Gylnor) before JRiver got the setup tuned/working (meaning you should not need anything installed that MC doesn't install for you).

You also shouldn't have to remove any filters since MC won't use them unless you're overwriting those MC installs.  The Red October system can exist side by side with the DirectShow system that other filters use.

Thanks for the reply...

I think I'll try getting rid of K-Lite if MC has no use for it.. The only other video player I use is vcl when I am sorting video because the video starts faster & I believe vlc comes with the codecs it need anyway..

Thanks
