How to add files like documents and pictures to an album
« on: January 29, 2012, 05:25:45 am »

Hi,

Is there a way to add documents and pictures to an album? For example, I have quite some albums with a digital booklet available (mostly pdf files) and some extra pictures. I'd like to add these to the album and make sure that whatever I do with the album, this data will stay part of the album (and preferably stay in the same folder as the audio files). So basically you can see it as having the cd jewel case with the front and back pictures and the booklet always at hand with the cd. But than digitally in JRiver. I'd like to be able to open the files from within the album in standard and theater view.

Probably a nice feature for video's as well?

Is there a way in JRiver to do this?

Thank you very much in advance! :)

Welcome to Interact.

You can make a  mixed type playlist.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm not sure if that will fit my needs. I can't make a playlist for every album I have and I'll probably run into problems when moving/editing/etc. (files in) albums. Do you think it's something that can't be done in JRiver and should I suggest a feature request?

Thanks again!

If you assign the same artist and album to a photo or document as the audio files then they will be treated as members of the album. To see the photos and documents you need to construct a view that shows all media types. For example, create a view named Music that shows all media types with panes Artist and Album. If you want the photos and documents to be located in the same folder on your drive as the audio then use the Rename from tags feature.

You're going to Customize the view, disabling it from inheriting the file types from the root view scheme (Audio), and instead allow document types and images.

See this thread for an overview Customizing views:

That seems to do the trick!  :D Not sure yet how it's going to work when importing and moving media, but for now, in the view, it does what I want it to do. Thank you very much for your help and quick responses!
