Lose sound in Other windows apps
« on: April 22, 2012, 01:47:51 am »

Hi,
Since installing JRiver I find that i lose the sound on all other windows applications - games etc. Sound is fine if I reboot until I then start J River and then i loose it. Any ideas what could be causing it - i am on Win 7 and using wasapi event style mode. Otherwise all is good, using it on my (quite old) dell desktop XPS 420) AND via a couple of Squeezeboxes - one to my hi Fi and a sqzbx boom in the kitchen and also the Gizmo app on my android phone - which is better than the Equivalent squeezebox app EXCEPT that i can't turn off the saqueezebox once i've finished.

Thanks In Anticipation.

WASAPI Event mode will do that for you.
Try switching to Direct Sound and it won't happen any more.

WASAPI Event Style uses exclusive mode whilst MC is playing audio but when you stop playing, it should release the device.

@Bob - is the problem occurring even when MC isn't playing?
