In-progress Recording Playback From Client
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:08:58 am »

First, I think it would be better for the client to list the recording as "In-progress" rather than "Missing".  Second, is there any way for the client to identify that the file is getting bigger/longer and adjust accordingly?  What happens now is that it shows the duration of the recording when you first start playback and then stops playback at this initial duration.  It would be better if it could continuously adjust the length as the recording progresses (the client does have direct network access to the files).  Thanks.

When the server is recording, we put the program length in Duration field, not the current length.  During playback, we display current length.  If you record in jtv format, the client automatically updates the length while it increases.  TS format maybe problematic.

This is not what I experienced when trying a recent build of v18.  During playback the time bar displayed the length when playback started and did not update as the recording progressed.  It also stopped playback early when the initial length was reached.  Maybe it is currently broken in v18?

I just checked again.   It works for me.

I did some more investigating and it doesn't work when I have the "Play local file when available" option checked for the client (when it is playing the file directly instead of "streaming").  I prefer to leave this option checked as I seem to get better performance when playing the file directly from the network and I plan to record directly to a network drive in the future.

Would it be possible to update the time/duration during playback when playing the file directly? Thanks.

It should work for jtv files.  I will have to double-check.
