18.0.140 (2/25/2013)

1. Fixed: The program would not run on systems without SSE 4.1 support.
2. Changed: Retooled SSE assembly everywhere in the program so that SSSE 3 is the low-water mark for SSE acceleration (previously SSE 4.1 was required in most places to get acceleration).
3. Fixed: Thread priorities were not implemented fully on Mac.

18.0.139 (2/22/2013)

1. Fixed: Wrong options file was being used in the 138 build resulting in frequent crashes.

18.0.138 (2/22/2013)

1. NEW: Added support for Core Audio exclusive output in Options > Audio > Output mode settings (enabled by default).
2. Fixed: Memory playback was not working properly.
3. Fixed: Plugins were not working because working path was not being set, this caused playback to fail.

18.0.137 (2/21/2013)

1. Fixed: Audio format converter working.
2. Changed: Register dynamic libs on first run after install rather than every startup.
3. Changed: Auto-update partially works. It will show whether version is up to date and download new version. Need to manually install.
4. Fixed: Show/Set update download directory not working.
5. Fixed: Search in options dialog not working.
6. Fixed: Encoder properties dialog in options not working.
7. Fixed: Clicking away from in-place editing box doesn't cancel edit mode.
8. Fixed: Mouse wheel support.
9. Changed: Close,Minimize,Maximize buttons moved to left side of frame.
10. Fixed: Lots of UI windowing issues (z-order,  white windows, black windows, floating windows,  etc.) should be fixed.
11. Fixed: Files with really long path names weren't importing.

18.0.136 (2/20/2013)

1. Fixed: Library backup / restore works, although restoring a library from the Windows version is not fully working yet.
2. Fixed: Internal volume working.
3. Fixed: Player window displaying wrong playback time.
4. Fixed: Some of the window z-order issues.

OS X 10.8.2

Controls (minimize, maximize and close) moved back to the right side (PC location).

Speaker volume did not work using the MC control or PC volume control.
After awhile I got it working but am not sure what fixed it. I did 2 things:
1) tried it with headphones which worked
2) changed the audio output mode settings from default-->Built-In Output
One of these 2 things may have gotten the audio through the PC speakers working. The volume control on both the PC and MC slider work fine.

Just did a quick test of 140 playing Mediterranean Sundance / Rio Ancho from the Friday Night in San Francisco recording by Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucía.  Playing through Air Play from my MBP to an Apple TV and an Emotiva DAC.  BTW, I can also play via optical at 24/96 to the same DAC with no issues.

I must say that it sounded real nice even with things just being 16/44 over Airplay.

The J River product holds a lot of promise!

Keep up the good work.

With snow leopard the keyboard volume controls do not work.  Also when clicking on the display view it freezes when the album shows on full screen, there seems to be no way to recover but to shutdown.

I figured out more about the misclicks I was reporting earlier... (or, at least, one permutation).

When you point at a song [Name] in Details view, the tooltip popup appears underneath your pointer immediately.  When you double click on the tooltip, nothing happens.  The tooltip in this case is useless, it is just the name that you're already looking at extended (it appears if the column isn't quite wide enough for that item).  That's helpful, but in this case, it also makes it so you can't double-click on any item [Name] most of the time to start playback.

Pointing at other items, like the Tiny Thumbs, AlexIcons, Album Name, etc works fine, and the "regular tooltip" doesn't interfere with playback.

I like the placement of the tooltip, but it needs to be "double-clickable".

This version is very nice...more stable and plays well on all my Macs.  Just for grins, I loaded it on a very weak OSX 10.6.2 single core (don't ask too much) machine.  It loaded 10,000 files quickly and plays back smoothly.

UPDATE: I'm still getting a little bit of "hesitation" or "stutter" or "artifacts" on my main system after I start/stop a few albums (or so it seems).  This goes away if I exit between albums.

Here is a screen shot on the weak machine:

The "F2" keyboard shortcut (edit field) doesn't work.
Storing the edited value doesn't work -> crashes the application.
Same is true in tag window.

On MacBook (core2duo), OS 10.7.5.

All tags, or only certain ones?

You're right about F2 (not implemented yet, I think).  I'm not seeing the crash.  I haven't been testing with Lion, though, so perhaps it is something specific to that?  Or, something else more specific to your setup?

Yes, all tags i tested (from Album to Rating).
It occurs when renaming a column field in the grid as well as when tagging in the tagging-box every time.
Might be a problem in OS 10.7.5.

Media Center 18 for Mac doesn't work at all with my NAD M51 DAC, which uses the NAD USB Audio 2.0 driver that is built into OS X. "NAD USB Audio 2.0" appears in the device list in Options, but Media Center apparently doesn't know how to connect to it. Clicking play loads a track, but after that nothing happens. Media Center 18 works as it should through the internal speaker and line out.

Also, a Mac application should look and act like a Mac application, not a PC program. Preferences (not Options), keyboard shortcuts, etc.  A lot of work needs to be done on the user interface to bring it up to speed with how Apple does things and flatten the learning curve for Mac users. The developers need to study how a Mac application works if they want to compete with the already-existing music players that were designed from the ground up for a Mac. I use a Mac and not a PC for a reason, and the current Media Center 18 interface is a step back to a place I have no desire to be in.

Hi,

Just tried .140 replacing a .139. on 10.6.8 and 10.7.4

strange problem:
- Cover arts of all mp3s (inside file) don't show up, rebuild thumbnail does not do anything
- But cover arts (inside file) for flac and m4a are showing up OK.

The image file field reports cover  art 'inside file' as expected.

anyone seen the same?

C.
