Understanding JRiver eq.
« on: March 26, 2013, 02:18:43 pm »

Hello everybody:

I wanted to start messing around with JRiver eq to see how different is from Audyssey XT32.

I have some doubts:

1) My processor Onkyo PR SC5508 does the decoding (DTS and so on). I f I turn on the eq on JRiver do I have to disable the decoding in the Onkyo??? Do I have to everything in JRiver?
2) I use HDMI, if I do the eq via JRiver and turn off the eq on the Onkyo, will it pass straight to the amp every single channel as it should be ?
3) Is there a noticeable difference between JRiver + REW and Audyssey XT32???

Thanks for your help

There are some wiki topics that might help.  You could start here:

JimH,

Thanks I already read that post but still left me with a lot of doubts. As I understand I can do the decoding with JRiver, as I knew.

I hope somebody can help me with the rest

If you send anything but undecoded, unaltered content to a receiver, there should be no decoding going on there.
