Hi,

I am evaluating MC on a trial license. When I play certain (not all) TV channels the general picture quality is not good (horizontal lines on the screen) and there are large boxes made of coloured horizontal lines in the bottom right of the screen. See attached screen shot. These channels work perfectly in other software (Windows Media Center and Arcsoft TotalMedia) so this appears to be a MC issue. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can fix this?

What type of TV channel do you use (ATSC, analog, DVB-T, DVB-S etc.)?

Thanks for the quick reply! I am using the TV tuner exclusively for DVB-T. The tuner is a August DVB-T202 USB.

While playing a channel, right-click in the video window, go to DirectShow filters submenu.  You can check which video renderer is used, or simply choose "Copy graph info to clipboard" and paste the info here.

The graph looks quite normal, using LAV video decoder and Enhanced Video Renderer.  The only thing that I can suggest is to try using madVR for video renderer.  You can do it by choose Red October HQ mode.

If you haven't done so, try updating both the video driver (from the manufacturer) and DirectX (from Microsoft).

Thank you very much to both of you for your swift support and this issue is now fixed. Here are the details:

Changing mode to "Red October HQ" didn't help and just caused a different distortion/colour issue.
I changed the mode to "Windows merit based" and that did fix the problem.
However, given that MC says "Windows merit based" is "not recommended" I tried JimH's suggestions.
DirectX was up-to-date.
Video driver was up-to-date according to Dell (the laptop's manufacturer).
However, the graphics card maker - Nvidia - had a later driver available so I installed that.
TV payback now works correctly with "Red October Standard".
