? on file properties tools...request
« on: February 23, 2002, 09:42:47 am »

Hi I have 3000 tracks, 1000 unfortunately are preceded by their track number.  Is there a way in media jukebox to rename the tracks titles by ignoring the track #?  I see under tools in file properties the way to rename the properties based on file name....

There is even an option for track name to ignore #....name.  However, when I select this, the track name does not change/  Am I doing something wromg or does this not work?

i'm using...
Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.211

CPU: Intel Pentium III 996 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 324 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP 5.1  (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
wnaspi32.dll: N/A

ps...
here is an example of my file name...
Jam Bands\phish\Rift\11 Mound.mp3
I want the name to be listed as Mound, not "11 Mound"
I know I can edit manually but that would be a pain for 1000 tracks

What Do You Have Set For The FileName Rule?

Try Replacing What you Have Now

Prob "TRACK# - NAME"

To "NAME"

Dave
without actually being certain, i think you're out of luck since there is no "separator" for MJ to work on - just a space, which could be part of the title.
You seem to have looked in all the right places and tried the right things so if various permutations of "ignore name" and "ignore stuff" don't work, i reckon you're stuffed.

STOP PRESS:
I just tried this on a file named "08 hymne.mp3"
I used Tools>Fill Properties from Filename and the rule "track# name"
Then I used Tools>Rename Files from Properties and the rule "artist - track# - name"
Worked a treat!
