MC19 & iPod?
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:33:45 pm »

Does anyone have any experience using MC19 and an iPod? I've already bought the MC19 upgrade, but I'm uneasy about installing it because getting the iPod Classic to work with MC18 had become iffy in some later builds, but seems to be working with the most recent versions.

Anyone have any experience they can share?

my sons on vacation so, can't give you any direct feedback.

However, go ahead and install 19 and let us know. You can keep both on your machine for the time being. Just load 18 again for your ipod if its a problem

(just remember if you are in a network, for MC18 you need to run MediaServer for version 18 and vice-versa for version 19)

MC19 should behave as MC18 does.

Yup, MC19 works with 160GB iPod Classic. Thank you! As with MC18, there's a sequence to follow for it to work reliably:

Reset iPod (so that the apple shows on the iPod screen)
Make sure MC is not open.
Plug iPod into PC, and wait for PC to recognize iPod.
Open MC, let it find iPod, then sync.
When sync is complete, eject iPod from within MC19.
Close MC.
Then eject iPod from the PC OS.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit

Thank you to all!

Works for me too in MC19, as it has with MC versions going back to 16 or so if I recall accurately.  I have found that NOT connecting My 160GB Classic with iTunes unless necessary has helped tremendously in making the syncs from MC to classic more stable, and freeze free.  The only time I have connected it with iTunes in the past few years is to clear the entire iPod and re sync with the 16K or so files in my MC server.  I have had no problem with syncs, using Win7 Pro X64 over the past 2 years or so. Using a Zbox Intel Celeron SU2300 with 8GB RAM, internal 160GB SSD, and external (USB2) 1TB HD for the music library since 2011, replacing a larger PC Box I was using.  All Music is APE format.  Nothing but net for me.
fwiw,  I do not follow the sequence above.  I simply connect the classic to a usb port, wait for it to pop up in Devices in MC19 ( Windows will also notify you...I just close that information window), and choose in options what to sync, then SYNC.
