I can shorten the names of the files enough to get them in but windows wont let me, It tells me the file name I am choosing is too long.

Thanks, I got around it by shortening some file paths.

Windows is odd in that it will let you create a "path+filename+extension" that is longer than 256 char but then can not read it.  As you have found the only solution is to shorten the path.

I ended up copying the problem files to a more local location which shortened the file path considerably.
