Thumbnails not Rebuilding
« on: November 16, 2014, 06:57:22 am »

Hi guys.

Ever since I switched over to MC20, most of my thumbnails are missing. Selecting Buld missing thumbnails in Options doesn't do anything, and using Images >Rebuild Thumbnails locks up MC if I select more and a couple hundred files at a time.

All my media is on a Synology NAS.

Any ideas?

When it "locks up", let it run.  See if it recovers.

Are you using an antivirus program that is checking every file every time it's opened?

Same exact problem. Also have Synology.

Can we verify the thumb issues are those files solely on NAS, I have many files also on local HD.

I keep missing thumbs after rebuilding as well, and today had quite a hang up while MC did something to build Tiles.

Interestingly enough, today I yanked my dual-port Intel NIC, and I am averaging 60mb/s R/W now as opposed to 30mb/S and overall better DPC performance so I don't think it's NIC related. I also just updated to a new Synology DSM version, but the problem persists.

I've let it run overnight. No recovery.

I'm using Microsoft Essentials.

I run NOD32 with exceptions for all MC related folders in AppData etc.

Damn I didn't realize Defender was even running...is it really worth it?

Doesn't seem you can add a Network location for a NAS to be exception, and no way to manually enter the location.

Thanks for the Wiki link.

Also for a legacy purpose, I have my Thumbs folder in non-standard location e.g. C:\ThumbsMC20

but this is on a Samsung 840 along with the library...I think it's just files on my NAS that keep "losing" tagged image file thumb. Still looking.

I'm discovering files that read as tagged Image File: Inside File, but nothing is displayed.

Once I change the covert art in same folder as audio files to folder.jpg, and choose Quick Scan, the files are re-tagged and thumb appears.

Maybe not related, but we'll see.

I've just done an import update after tweaking the system for stability given Glynor's tips and the removal of extra NIC.

All thumbs were built after import so I manually checking for more of these "untagged" ones and then tomorrow, hopefully, all thumbs remain.

Confused....

No image files in folder, MC reports Image File: Inside File

No thumbnail in MC.

VLC is pulling Cover Art from tags.

Rebuild Thumbnail does nothing.
