Purchasing Problems
« on: January 24, 2015, 12:46:53 pm »

Hello all,

I have a frustrating problem purchasing the combo special currently offered.

I got the #19 version back in August 2014, and was unsure as to what computer to I would use the (eventually) purchased item on, either mac or windows. I restored the license once but have let it lapse until now.  So recently I get the email fromJRiver offering the combo linux, mac, and the windows version. Let's do it...  However, I kept getting hung up at the restore license pop up.  It asks for a key which I of course I cannot find/have on some other computer/am too old and confused to figure out/do not have. So I ask for the key to be emailed to the only email account I have.  Then I get a "No record of email account from JRiver" email. Wahhh.

Then I uninstall all remnants of Version 19, and try from scratch with a fresh install of Version 20... and get the same pop up. Grrr!  I can't even open Version 20! It feels like I'm going in circles here and then I remember why I just didn't buy both versions previously: a complete lack of phone support. :(

Anyhow, can any of you helpful masters of the computer universe suggest a remedy before I strangle the wife's cat? Both the cat and I would be exceedingly grateful.

Cheers ;D

Please use the thread on the "Master License..." on this board.

Here are the instructions:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Upgrade_to_Master_License

If you don't have an MC20 license, download and install MC20, then purchase.  You should have a choice of which license to buy.  If not, then don't do anything.

Thanks... but no success.

The new download (Version 20) installs but will not open.  I get the same pop up informing me that my trial period is over and when I try to purchase I get the same pop up.

Cheers,

... and I'd be happy to move the post over to the appropriate "Master License" arena for it but...  I'm not very computer literate and can't figure out how to do it.  ? Could a moderator help?

again, Cheers

Is it the version from our download page, and downloaded today?

Thanks Jim,

Looks like I downloaded V.20 1/5/15, and also today, both from your website.  I had a previous version downloaded from your site early 2014 and modified 8/29/14 when I sought to take another look at it and in order to do so, restored the license. This version has been deleted from my computer.

Please use the build numbers, not the dates.  20.0.62, for example.

Have no idea what/where a build # is, but under the general properties tab (when I Right click on the desktop icon) it is called "MediaControl200062.exe". Is this what you want?
Again thanks

This is the file you should install:
http://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/channels/v20/latest/MediaCenter200062.exe

Looks like you have already, and that mediaCONTROL was a typo?

That's MC 20.0.62 (build 62).  The version # is on the download page.  It's also in the program Help menu under About.

If you have never purchased MC20, the price will be $44.98 for the Master License (through January 28).

I'd LOVE to purchase the program however I'm UNABLE to OPEN the program to purchase it. A pop up keeps showing stating that my trial period has expired. Like previously stated-I've uninstalled the old #19 and reinstalled V.20 but the pop up remains.

Some advise on how to get around the pop up would really appreciated considering that the special pricing real ends soon.

When it says it has expired, you should see an option to purchase.  It's one of the buttons.

On the window that says your trial is expired, there should be a Purchase button:

That will take you to a web page where you can purchase a Master license.  At the conclusion of purchase, it will run a file which installs the license on your computer.  If this doesn't seem to work, find the downloaded license installer file (probably in your Downloads folder with a name like "Media Center20 Master-xxxxxx.mjr") and right-click on it and select "Open With" PackageInstaller.app (20.0).

Then you should be able to start Media Center and it will be licensed.

If you can't seem to get the license installer file (mjr) to work, you can always click the "Restore License" button on the above pictured window and then copy and paste your registration code you received at purchase time.
