Unable to access Library Server with Gizmo
« on: January 28, 2015, 03:30:42 pm »

Hi, attempting to use Android for streaming my MC library, MC version 17.0.189. I installed Gizmo and entered the furnished key code resulting in error message "server not found." Firewall on server is disabled and I set the router's port forwarding to 52199. Both UDP and TCP protocols are enabled. Any assistance greatly appreciated, thanks.

I would be very surprised if the current version of Gizmo would work with MC v17 - perhaps you should consider upgrading to v20 ??

I believe the current Gizmo requires MC 15 something to work, or so the source code claims, and when MC is too old, Gizmo would also tell you instead of just erroring out with "Server not Found". However, MC17 is quite old indeed, so I can't reliably comment on if its still going to function with Gizmo. I would hope that it would do more then just fail connection with "server not found" though.

So I should revert to MC15? The other comment suggested upgrading to MC 20.

Hendrik meant that MC15 or newer should work with Gizmo.

The wiki has a topic called Network Access.

I've made all the settings as per Network Access wiki as stated in initial post. Still flunks access test?!

On the server, try regenerating the Access Key.  Then use the new one in Gizmo.

Does it work if Gizmo is on the local network?

Reset key and remote test failed again. However, able to access locally from Gizmo (ditto yesterday prior key).

So that proves that MC and Gizmo are working.   The Network Access topic is your best bet.  Something isn't open.

I have mc21 in Ubuntu 14.04  and the  trouble with Android gizmo tablet remote was not working and the  LAN connection over wlan in jriver needs Static IP inside "192.168.xx.yy "  home network. I installed the static IP with the Ubuntu graphical "edit networks" menu and now gizmo  remote works.  This would have been easier if the gizmo instructions had included the hint of stating static IP as mandatory when accessing inside home network.   Specify in edit networks the following parameters:   mask,  home router gateway address, DNS server address and search domain .  Get these from your ISP and home router settings and the gizmo access code from jriver tools  options media network settings. Use authentication username &   pswd.   Hope this helps a bit  ....

edit

I ended up to browser based remote control due to the screen update speed reasons.
Use in internet browser
http://192.168.xx.yy:52199/Gizmo/library.html
where the 192.... address is the home network staic ip  (reserve this from home router)
and 52199 the default port  in jriver option settings for media network
and rest of the address is webgizmo
