Media Center 10.0.17 beta available
« on: December 16, 2003, 05:17:57 pm »

Media Center 10.0.17 beta is available.

This is a beta.  Avoid this if problems, changes, or crashes will upset you.  Do NOT try this if you aren't prepared for trouble.

The latest known stable version of 9.1 is here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html

Please check the license and price thread before you download:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=17336

The latest beta of 10 is here:
[pulled by Matt -- MC\Data\Default Resources\FileAssocations.xml was corrupted]

10.0.17 (12/16/03)

1. Fixed: Hairstyle would sometimes draw a 'no thumb' image for items it shouldn't. (after scrolling, mode changes, etc.)
2. NEW: Remade view scheme creation / editing system.
3. Fixed: When renaming view schemes, changes wouldn't stick until the tree was collapsed and expanded.
4. Changed: Media Mode browser schemes shared between all modes, instead of being independent. (still a work in progress)
5. Fixed: In-place editing on Win9x / ME systems could crash MC.
6. NEW: Added 'Camera' item to Action Window.
7. NEW: Action Window changes based on selected Media Mode.
8. Fixed: MC installer would erroneously report 'IE 5 not installed' on some locales.

10.0.16 (12/15/03)

1. Changed: Hairstyle maintains the aspect ratio of thumbnails instead of stretching.
2. Changed: Hairstyle does a better job of using as large of fonts as possible.
3. Changed: Hairstyle starts playing selected item when hitting play, but adds all selected / visible items.
4. NEW: Hairstyle configuration now allows unused root items to be hidden.
5. Changed: Simplified Hairstyle sizing configuration.
6. Changed: Many Hairstyle skinning engine changes. (now v1.7 -- documentation to follow)
7. Fixed: MC would not completely hide the browser panes when clicking the splitter arrow.
8. Changed: MC better at correcting capitalization of FTP friendly filenames. (with underscores instead of spaces)
9. Fixed: Playback display bars at top and bottom could be dragged around by their bottom pixel.
10. Fixed: Hairstyle PIP wasn't always updating properly.
11. NEW: Hairstyle draws a play overlay on the currently playing track.
12. Changed: Video Properties (Brightness, contrast, etc.) settings are saved in registry and set on start of TV.

10.0.15 (12/12/03)

1. NEW: TV has functionality of frequency override.
2. Changed: Added tooltips to TV Channels and Frequency overriding dialogs.
3. Fixed: Hauppauge WinTV USB device had clicking noise during channel switching. (workaround of a driver issue)
4. Fixed: Scroll position in file lists was not being preserved when using the "Back" command.
5. Fixed: Fullscreen display wasn't working properly.
6. Changed: Hairstyle only loaded on demand instead of always when switching to fullscreen.
7. Fixed: Editing view schemes would cause MC to keep switching the selection back to 'Media Library'.
8. Fixed: Sometimes after switching skins, player controls would be misshaped.
9. Fixed: Hairstyle was not allowing 'Video' to be entered.
10. Changed: Hairstyle 'Playlists' now lists files like library views do.
11. Changed: Update 'About' and 'Splash' images for version 10 beta.
12. Fixed: Fixed drive portables would disappear from tree after synchronization.

Ditto for me too. "Failed To Load Association Files" prevents me from playing anything.

Yep...getting that here too...

Another bug I noticed.  Before the changes to Media Modes yesterday I went in and changed all the VS in the 'media modes' to ones that were relevant to HS and kept my 'All' section as it was.  With the changes obviously the all section and the media modes are now synched up however HS is still showing the VS that I changed the Media Modes to yesterday.  It is not showing the VS present in the Media Modes...
EDIT: (Although I'm guessing this is a bug this is actually how I would prefer HS to work...it would be great if we could set up view schemes just for HS and view schemes just for MM)

If you have an MC\Data\Default Resources\FileAssociations.xml from an earlier build, overwrite the one from this build and everything will work.

Sorry for the troubles.

Matt,

Can you post that file?

I tried the cut and paste you suggested earlier and it didn't work.

Thanks!

Matt, I apologize in advance, but I must be dense. Exactly, what does your post mean? How can you have an earlier build, if you just installed build 17 over 16? Can you spell out the fix a little more clearly, please.

Sorry for the troubles.

On my system, the FileAssociations.xml file is in the "Data\Default Resources" directory, not the "Data" directory.

Found "FileAssociations.xml" in "\Media Center\Data\Default Resources"
I deleted that and reinstalled MC, didn't help.. :(

Just wait for another build tomorrow.  I'm going to close and unstick this one now.
