Just upgraded to "Sound Jitters"?

Hi,

Note: - So far this only happens to MIDI files.  CDs, WMAs  play fine.  Haven't tried others yet.

I just upgraded to MC and my toshiba laptop still has the "Jitters."  I would like to know how to get the sound smooth again.  

The only way I can describe the sound is like jitters or stutters?!?  

FYI - Windows Media Player 9 plays all smoothly, but I was hoping to replace it with MC10.  ;)

Help would be appreciated.

Hi Calvin.
I don't know if it can help, but did you tried to play with the output settings & mode?
(Options>Playback>Output)
Try a different Mode and try to change the Buffering time too(in "Settings...")

I have the same problem! lol
I never play midi files within MC and tried, just to see... awfull!
I get shutters when I use the default XP driver but don't have when I use Yamaha's XG soft Synth driver.
I have no clue about the way to fix that, sorry.

Main problem... MIDI is my main format as I do some composing.

It can be a MC bug (WMP works fine while it uses the same driver)
Perhaps can you post this to "Media Center 10.0.161 Available" with your system information (Help/System Info).

Try changing some of the playback options.  Wav out or direct sound, for example.

I have tried these options without success.  Will these option changes happen on the fly?  If not, what needs to be done.

FYI - Thank you very much in taking interest.  I realize MIDI is "old technology,"  and therefore not commamding too much attention, but it is my preference and your notice of my issue is encouraging

FYI - I downloaded and installed four diffeent MIDI players to see if anything else would reproduce anything like the stutters.  All played flawlessly.  Having previously completely uninstalled MJ8 and MC10 I reinstalled MJ8.  Voila!  the MIDIs played great!  Tempting my good fortune I installed MC10 on top of MJ8 and the stutters returned. HOWEVER one thing I noticed was that MC10 required a reformatting (analysing?) of my media library from MJ8.  Perhaps something happens to the file in the translation?

We'll take a look.

For now, it should work if you switch the Video Playback engine to WMP in Options > Playback.
