OT -- Cody, Wyoming
« on: August 30, 2004, 09:01:31 pm »

I went to Cody, Wyoming for the weekend.  Nice town.  50 miles east of Yellowstone Park, about 8,000 people.  A lot of Buffalo Bill history.

There's a great museum there, worth a trip to see.  It's called the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.  It's about Buffalo Bill, but also about Western Painting, Natural History, Firearms, and Plains Indians:

JimH did you have auto focus on?

My eyes may be bad but I think the focus is off a bit on some of the pictures.

I Drove Thru Cody Wyoming once or twice.

once when I was about 10 years old stayed  in a motel my dad said "Buffalo Bill" must have stayed in. at least all the dust was there still from the Buffalo days.

the other time when we drove to washington state and then to fort Lewis. wash. sue wanted to stay but i always remembered the motel stay and what my dad said. so i told her we should drive a bit more that day.

"one of them there" pictures looks like the motel and here it is some 40+ years later still standing, amazing.

Yesterday my flat screen blew up, so i took my wifes monitor, Stop...
Sue told me to go buy a new one, Stop...
It is going to take gateway 12 days to replace it, Stop...

I figured since i was at "best buy" I would buy myself a 160 gig drive to replace in one of my USB drives that blew up, Stop...

Nice pictures, you are improving. ::)

Buffalo Bill is buried all over the country.

When I lived in Denver Colorado, I often visited a place called Lookout Mountain (where Coors beer is located) outside of Golden Colorado.  At the top of Lookout Mountain is a place called Buffalo Bills grave.

Seems a lot of places claim to have Buffalo Bill buried there.  8)

The museum is nice but did you get to see the rodeo?  They have one every night through the summer.  It was pretty good show when I was there in June.

I didn't get to the rodeo.  Would have been nice.

Sorry, some of the pictures are pretty out of focus.  Sometimes I'll keep a bad picture when I think it's better than none.

That's what I am talking about.  Not much there.

AFAIK, that is his only gravesite.  Apparently his last wishes were to be buried there.
