Transcoding to JRemote
« on: September 16, 2015, 04:22:48 am »

Hello, i have a strange problem i have installed JRiver on a Linux mint 17.3 XFCE on a samsung nc10 atom laptop with 2gb ram and everything works perfect. Except when streaming to my phone when i am not connected to my home network using JRemote with transcoding to mp3 medium enabled. I get the message "Audio streaming error" There was a problem playing the current audio file. But the strange thing is that when turn off the transcoding it does work. So it has nothing to do with firewall setting. When using JRiver on windows i do not have this problem.

I hope somebody can help

Tnx

We use an external mp3 encoder when transcoding music, and don't ship it with MC for Linux, so please check if you have the "lame" package installed, and install it if missing.
The .deb packages would've listed those as recommended, but its easy to miss.

Thank you for the reply i have lame (3.99.5+repack1-3ubuntu1) installed:-(

The strange thing is that when i play songs on my raspberry trough dlna it does transcode if I enable transcoding.

I read that MC for linux is based on Debian installation? Maybe it is a good idea to install Debian to see if that makes a difference?

You might try starting MC in a terminal window (as yourself, not root) and see if you get an error message when it goes to transcode.
I don't see anything wrong with your setup off the top of my head.
