Downloading and categorizing Music Samplers
« on: October 01, 2015, 05:01:43 pm »

Over the past several weeks I have download five different Music Samplers from Audiogon, HD Tracks, etc.  I categorized them in my network page (from which MC updates files) as (Main Category) "Samplers," and subcategories using their real samplers titles, e.g. "HD Tracks 2013 Sampler."  I have not been using DBPowerAmp with any of them, as I normally have been when ripping a CD.

When they get picked up in the MC Music Library through manual importing, they get fragmented, with some of the album covers showing up with only one cut listed for that album.  What do I need to do to list each of the sampler albums as a distinct album with all of its respective cuts listed under that sampler album title (As they would be in a regular CD by one artist)?  Each of the samplers features a wide variety of artists and musical styles.

Thanks, in advance, for the help!

This is a common "problem" with an easy fix.  Summary:

1.  Make sure you have the same Album tag for all files in the album.
2.  Set the tag named "Album Artist" (no quotes) for all of these files to a single value.  For these samplers, you should probably use something like:

(Multiple Artists)
Various
Various Artists

The first one will sort before everything else, which is nice, instead of have it sort under V (if you used Various).
