MC not recognizing remote's IR receiver
« on: October 14, 2015, 10:01:19 am »

I'm trying to setup my JRiver MC remote (purchased from JRiver).  When use the Options=>Remote method, and when I click on 'Next', I instead get a message "You don't appear to have a MC receiver connected to your computer ...".  In fact, I do and it shows up as "eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)" in my list of devices associated with USB.  Also, the remote does work but only function is rudimentary.  So, it is connected and working, but MC is not recognizing it.

If recognized properly am I to expect better functionality?  How do I get MC to recognize it (eg, different driver)?  Is this fixed in MC21?

TIA  :)

Options -> Remote Control, Click on "Devices & Options", and try checking "Remote, keyboard, gamepad or other HID", that is required for my remote to work fully.

Also, MC has an option to disable WMC.

This option was already enabled...as was "MCE remote", while "IRMAN" and "USB-UUIRT" were disabled ...

Also, MC has an option to disable WMC.

I found that option under configuring Theater View.  I disabled it, restarted MC20, but MC is still implying ""You don't appear to have a MC receiver connected to your computer ..."

The option you are trying to use is specifically for MCs IR Blaster functionality, ie. the reverse of a remote.
If some remote commands don't work, you can re-map them using the "Commands" link on the entry remote screen.

Thanks Hendrik...much appreciated!  However, I would like to figure out why the hardware isn't being recognized before I try remedying non-functionality with workarounds :)

Like I said, the button you are pressing is not meant to recognize remotes. Its for MCs IR Blaster exclusively, which you just do not have.

Sorry...I misunderstood. Then, the Wiki is wrong...leastwise misleading?
