Build 45 Upon Close "Quit Unexpectedly"
« on: February 11, 2016, 09:30:14 am »

Previous on Build 25 and 31 when I closed JRiver I would received an error message that JRiver "Closed Unexpectedly"  Then about two or three weeks ago it just stopped.  I have downloaded and updated to Build 45.  Now upon each closing of JRiver I get the message "Quit Unexpectedly".  I am not sure the significance in the difference of terms but I follow the same procedure.  I stop music from playing.  I go to the tool bar and select Quit.

JRiver is performing fine except for this nuisance.

I can't reproduce this issue. However, I've got an idea that might help troubleshoot and narrow down what could be causing this issue.

1. Open Media Center.

2. Go to the Tools menu then select Options.

3. Navigate to the General section then click the arrow next to Features to expand it.

You'll see this;

What we're going to do is uncheck each feature one-by-one then close Media Center and then reopen it after unchecking a feature (since most features won't be disabled until you restart Media Center). Then retest for the crash issue. If it crashes, open Media Center and uncheck the next feature and retest again. Repeat until either the crashing stops or until all features are unchecked. So the steps here are the following;

1. Uncheck a feature and press OK to close Media Center's Options.

2. Close Media Center.

3. Reopen Media Center.

4. Repeat test to see if it crashes.

5. Repeat if necessary.

If you find which feature is causing the crashing, leave it unchecked then recheck all the other features, then close and reopen Media Center and retest again. If Media Center still crashes with all features disabled, re-enable them then close and reopen Media Center.

Regardless what happens, please post the results here.

I posted about this in the build 25 thread on this topic also but I will reinstall 45 (I have gone back to build 24 yesterday as it was the last version without this issue for me) and follow your instructions and report back.

Option--> Medianetwork library, server, DLNA  is the one. When that one is on and the others are off it crashes. When the others are "on" and medianetwork etc is "off"  It doesn't crash. It's a very important option, without it I don't see my devices where i can play my music.

Yes, I can confirm that.  I ran through the instructions and the Media Network option is causing the crash.  Testing so far shows that this option has to be on and playback has to be through the DLNA device for the crash to occur when quitting.  If the option is on and I just play through Core Audio, the crash doesn't happen.

Ditto about the importance of this option.

Really glad the potential issue has been identified. Like the others this is an essential need for me. I guess you just have to identify what changed in that area from 24 to 25 and has apparently remained through 31 and 45 (I've not tried 48 but it doesn't look as it addresses the issue so assume the same result).

First try on build 48 with about 45 minutes of uninterrupted play upon close "Quit Unexpectedly" popped up.  I'll report under longer playback times if the issues with playback return or not.
