wma not import not play
« on: May 01, 2016, 01:45:40 pm »

Hi,
Media Center 21 on Win7 does not import and play wma files.
When imporing it says they are determined previously bad
when I want to open and play it says there is nothing to play
or the files are corrupted, but I purchased these files.
What shall I do?

It's possible that the files are encrypted.   Where did you get them?

I purchased them from legal websites.
I used these files before and jriver played them.
The problem is since I reinstalled windows,
and only wma are not imported to the library,
other formats are OK.

Try playing them with Windows Media Player.

No problem to play them with Windows Media Player.

I've tried to import them again, this is the message:

Library now has 697 files. Search and update took 0:00.

Imported 1 new file.
Skipped 10 files (previously determined to be bad).

In-depth details:
Imported:
    C:\Users\Audio\Music\Avishai_Cohen-Continuo\Avishai_Cohen-Continuo.pdf

Skipped (previously determined to be bad):
    C:\Users\Audio\Music\Avishai_Cohen-Continuo\01-01-Avishai_Cohen-Nu_Nu-LLS.wma

and so on...

If I double click these files in Total Commander nothing happens.

Not any suggestion what should I do with those wma files? They were O.K. with MC but I had to reinstall my computer and since then I can not use them any more.

Turn off the "Ignore Files Previously Removed from Library" at "Tools>Options>Library & Folders>Configure Auto Import" (under "Tasks"), then try to reimport those files.

But if MC says there is something wrong with the files you maybe out of luck. Perhaps you can send one of the files to JRiver (or put it on a file-share service where we can download it and test) to determine what is wrong with it.

Sounds like those files have DRM.  I've read a few threads about this and it's all very confusing.  Hopefully you don't have too many of these kinds of files.

Thank you for the answers, unfortunately the problem exists, but now I have a hint.
On this computer there is Win7 Professional without Windows Media Player.
I have installed VLC and Foobar to try to play wma with them, but they were not able to play wma either!
The files are good, because an another computer can play them with Windows Media Player.
Before it I had Win8.1 and MC could play these wma files.
Is the problem in connection with Win7 Professional?

You may be missing some MS media components.  Try a search at Microsoft.

Installing WMP on the machine would probably work.
