Hi Jim,

I couldn't even guess what is meant by 'improved access to metadata'. Can you elaborate, please?

Labeling Link
« Reply #452 on: May 02, 2017, 06:55:29 am »

Hello Jim,

Is it possible to add a feature where we can name the Link. I have 3 links with 18 zones linked together in each. I would like to name the Links so it easier for me to chose which Link I want play.

Thank you.

Hi,

Just a cool feature: play doctor for video  ;D
I mean a automatic arrangement of simular videos on screen .
This, working in theatre view, would feel like caleidoscope....  8)

Right click on a zone to name it.

Yes, I have named the zones. When I link the zones, it all grouped under link. That is fine if I only have one linked zones. I have several groups of zones linked together. What I see on the screen is three link tabs. It would easier if I could name the link itself. Like LinkA,  LinkB
And so forth.

Maybe, I should attach the screen capture.

Coming next build:
Changed: Zone links can be renamed (the rename is only good for the run of the program).

It's not as fancy as saving the renamed link through a restart, but it's a good start :)

What the heck!

I made the rename last across program runs now :)

Thank you so much for entertaining my request. I just checked the update and the current version is 22.0.97, correct? Next build will be MC23 that would address the renaming of link, correct?

Below is what I see with MC22.0.97. Sorry for the big image. Couldn't resize.

Actually, the next MC22 build should have the change Matt mentioned above. MC23 won't appear until later this Summer.

Feature Requests
« Reply #462 on: May 04, 2017, 08:46:22 am »

Ok. Can I ask another feature too?

Is it possible to downsample to WAV 16/44.1 using " Convert Format". It looks like I cannot choose the sampling rate when I pick UncompressedWave. Due to too many DSP running simultaneously, only 16/44.1 works flawless. Higher rate files above 24/96 causes breaks despite setting the output format to 44.1Hz.

Edited on 14May2017. The feature is already there. Managed to convert all to 16/44.1. Didn't realized I need to use DSP setting for that.

I would like to see a webgizmo / Gizmo setting for visitors that only has access "This Location".  That way, Ii can give access to my library without worrying that someone will try to control media within my home.

I would also like to see an OVERVIEW setting that allows me to see WHO is connecting via gizmo/JRiver/webgizmo and WHAT they are accessing.  The Media Network info via Services is simply not sufficient.  I have asked for better detailed info since MC18.

Thanks,

Dave

I am using lossless audio sources like Tidal (classical + jazz, also with some "Master" records wich is MQA).

Tidal's native player doesn't make optimal audio quality, neither on PC nore on Android, there are some player with Tidal integration with markedly better audio quality (Roon, Kodi, BobblePNP, beeing Sennheiser's CapTune on Android the best quality). Even VLC produces a more detailed and refined sound than Tidal player itself with playback of 24bit depth flac files.
(Tidals issues could involve flac-decoder, resampling issues, ?)

One request would be to have direct streaming service integration with JRiver. Setting JRiver's WDM alone wasn't enough to straighten out this handicap of Tidal.

While MS22's  WDM is a great concept and the implementation is functioning, I think there is also left a room for improving the sound quality by using more PC-resources on more advanced HW (like the recent i7 processors).  (Someone above has pointed out bad THD measurements with WDM  by which I could see my judgement full confirmed.)

Possible targets for revising the audio quality could be explicit filter choice options with parameter setting for DSD conversion (also an excellent concept in MC22).
Example for some basic implementation is foo_dsd_asio, for a more complete one is HQP (the latter being also a good example for an unusable GUI.)

MQA Support
« Reply #466 on: May 07, 2017, 04:48:25 am »

Albeit mentioned, but MQA capabilities would be a separate request.

MQA - not only the usual feature to pass on to MQA to DACs with MQA capabilities in bitperfect manner, but to include a true HiFi quality conversion of MQA Sources to ordinary DACs.

Also include MQA->DSD conversion, please.

It's been brought up multiple times, but MQA support likely won't happen.

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,101860.0.html

Also Tidal integration will likely won't happen either (it's been brought up too, do a search of the forums).

P.S. You *should* be able to pass MQA through MC already, as long as you don't use any DSP (and have volume set at 100%).

When you do shuffle and then click on a Playlist for example, you go back to shuffle and there's a new order to the songs.

In v.23 can you make it so the old shuffle list is still there? Or at least have the option of keeping or re-shuffling.

Thanks!

I know zones are a way to get around it, but can we get presets for the program settings?
Like, command-line launch selectable presets. I have more than one DAC and multiple headphones and speakers and I'd like to launch MC with default settings when I'm browsing the web or working so I still have audio from DirectSound and have a separate shortcut for launching MC with bit-perfect audio playback when I just want to listen to an Audio CD or watch a movie.
Is this possible?

You should be able to launch MC in a specific zone.  The command line interface might do it:

any new features for Windows version?

If it hasn't been requested would it be possible to add the Firefox engine as a web engine choice besides Chromium and Internet Explorer? Lots of folks don't use Chrome or IE anymore like me.

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/The_Command_Line
The list of commands seems outdated.
There is no "Zone" command for start-up.
Moreover the "'Zone' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

Make the "choices" box when you open up youtube be more friendly. I would like to see a box where we can have just one click and it will prevent the box from opening up unless we want it too. It's a PIA to have the box open up every time when you initially start MC.

Make a more friendly way of eliminating duplicates rather than the complex way that is set up now. The way I would like to see it is when you open a playlist and have more than one entry and it's the same you have the option of removing them with a simple click.

64 bit release of JRiver for Windows?  Please consider this so that we can use 64 bit VST plugins with your wonderful program!

Also, and this is probably the beta Dirac VST plugins fault, but if there was a scaling option for VST plugins that'd be great.  I tried rescaling JRiver in Windows 10 Pro using Advanced OS scaling, which fixed VST scaling, but this messed up fullscreen playback.  The issue is I have a Kaby Lake 4k HTPC, and many programs aren't compatible with Windows 10 scaling so they appear very small on my 4k display.

I am a new purchaser/subscriber, and really love the sound quality I am getting by the way (main reason I bought your software was to use the Dirac VST plugin).  Have to say everything works and sounds fantastic.  Had to have a program that supported ASIO so I could enjoy my new RME HDSPe card's ASIO drivers.  My PC outputs digital AES to two Xilica XD4080 speaker processors (one tri-amps my front speakers).

Any chance we can see my standard view album cover slide show in MC23?    (using flat and or rotated/reflection effect), based off the currently playing albums folder/images/covers/ cover art sub folders. Then changing when the the next track or album is in a different folder.   All optioned via right click context menu when right clicking over the standard view album cover.   With speed and rendering quality options.

My request from a few pages back:  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,104907.msg746687.html#msg746687

I like using standard view and would love to see the cover art folders used when playing from that album.   It has been years I've been requesting this one.   You implemented the pop out wide scroll bars, which I use every day - and really like.

In the first build of MC22:
NEW: Holding control while clicking any of the "Locate" menu choices will open them in a new tab.

Sorry to have taken so long to reply to your response.

Under 22.0.105 registered on Windows 10 as standard user (freshly installed today, was using MC21), select an audio track from a view with list style "details", right click to bring up context menu, hover over locate to expand the sub menu, ctrl-left-click on any of the locate items shows the result in the current tab. No new tab is opened. If there are multiple tabs already opened, the result still appears in the current tab.

Please add a Master Volume Control.

Although, the Windows mixer works but it stops working when more DAC are added. I have to click on each individual DAC to adjust the volume. I have 10 DACs for now.

Could you please add a feature that exclusively adds the devices ( DACs) so that all can be controlled under master volume level?

Thank you.
