Author Topic: Help - JRemote will no longer play ALAC files with album art modified by iTunes  (Read 2282 times)

When I modify the album art of my ALAC files in the latest version of iTunes and then try to play those files, imported in my JRiver library via JRemote, I get the error:

"Audio streaming error: There was a problem playing the current audio file"

The files still play fine in iTunes and in JRiver.  They also play via JRemote with transcoding turned on.  I'd rather not transcode these files to 320kbps...

Is this a bug?

Could you use JRiver to add the art?

I could and I am now, but it doesn't solve the issue for the 500+ files I already imported and modified with iTunes that do not play.

Can we fix this issue please?  My guess is it's some kind of issue with the handling inside the player.  All other players play these files correctly.  iTunes may be doing something to the files that JRemote can't handle correctly in code.

Instead of a workaround, let's file this as a bug and get the root issue fixed please.

As I recall, the problem is not whether iTunes or MC added the album art. The problem is with JRemote. And it is because JRemote cannot handle large size art images. The proper solution is to fix JRemote. The work around is to change to smaller sized art images. As I recall it 500x500 images work fine..
