Does TPDF dither change bits when no volume or DSP is being used?

After having read the threads on TPDF dither etc. I'm still a bit confused about how the TPDF dither setting affects things.

Lets say I have a 24 bit depth /88,2kHz track and I play it back through MC with the TPDF dither setting enabled. I have the volume adjustment in MC disabled and don't use any DSP. Do I get the same 24 bits out as go in?

My DAC uses an ASIO driver. Does it make a difference to the bits that come out whether I set "Device uses only most significant 24 bits"?
