Lame Encoder
« on: August 03, 2003, 11:47:09 pm »

Help!
I seem to have a problem with my MP3 Lame encoder and ripping tracks. When i try to rip albums using the MP3 VBR encoder set to high the rip will start, run through maybe a couple of tracks then crash the computer, with a message ' The Lame Encoder has encontered a problem',  I then have to reboot the computer ,then reload the library.
This always happens using this encoder but is fine using 'Monkeys Audio' .
I have tried reloading Media Center (.224), uninstalling, clearing the registry entries and reloading the MP3 encoder, But I still get the problem.
I have nothing but praise for Media Center and have been using it since V7, but this has got me stuck.
Can anyone help???

Hello,

This is strange indeed. Have you tried with different setting of the mp3 encoder (CBR, various parameters) ?
Do you have any other program running that would be using the mp3 binary ? (EAC, Nero)

You could also try to download the standard lame command line encoder at http://mitiok.free.fr/ and set up the MC external encoder to use it.

Let us know of any progress,

cheers,

Christian
