Need advice converting to Mac

I am switching from Ubuntu to Mac since, Linux version crashes almost every day. 

Is Mac version of JRiver stable?

Any hardware recommendations for Mac Mini?  How much memory sufficient?  I am thinking about Mac mini 2010/11 with 4 Gb memory.
