Does JRiver MC support copy once
« on: October 22, 2016, 03:56:29 pm »

I can't seem to find the definitive answer to this, it is the feature I would need in order to purchase this solution. I would like to replace win media center but can't as no one seems to have this feature.

Are you talking about cable TV?  No, we do not support Copy Once channels at this time.

Well, there was this but it didn't succeed.

Copy Once is expensive to implement it seems.

That is too bad but obviously no one went outside of the jriver community to find the interest. I try to follow this stuff and never heard of this effort. Maybe they should have been asking the media center users, I know many of us are looking for a solution as we have a product that is going to end. Did anyone see if microsoft would sell their solution. I assume that using these platforms are dead if guys like you can't even find solutions. I'm sure people would pay a license fee to get this capability. Oh well..

IMHO, the biggest issue was the time of year it was done and the short length of time it ran for vs. the lack of community outreach.

Looking at the thegreenbutton.tv and hearing from other WMC enthusiasts, most are going to TiVO as their solution.

In addition to the time of year, it was also right after SiliconDust did their Kickstarter campaign and I suspect that a lot of people didn't want to fund 2 projects for more or less the same end goal.
