Commercial skipping
« on: November 12, 2016, 09:32:40 am »

I understand that it is not high on the priority list but I have been waiting for 2 years to see some improvement in the
ability to skip commercials.  I know the function is there but it is not very user friendly. We were promised a way to view the the skip marks so we can determine if we have skipped incorrectly.

Totally agree.

I HATE COMMERCIALS... they make some TV completely unbearable to watch. Towards the end of some shows there is actually more commercials then content.

PLEASE... elevate this function to the highest priority.

Jim I understand the the system has the ability to skip commercials with the edl file. This is not the problem. The problem is that the skipping is not 100 pct accurate and can lead to missed parts of the show. With no way to see where the marks are we can not tell how much we have missed and where to go to get back to what we did miss.

We were told that it was going to be worked on in version 21. Now we are in version 22 and still no fix. I upgraded with the hope that in version 22 we would get some results.  Really can it be that hard, the marks are in the edl file. Sagetv has had this function for years.

If you use the arrow keys to skip or rewind, the right arrow advances 30 seconds, and the left rewinds 10 seconds.  You can change those to suit your needs.

MC as it exists can skip commercials.
How is this done?

Are you talking about the left & right arrow jump ahead & back? If so that is not real automatic commercial skipping that I want.

Am I missing something?

A lot has been done with TV lately and comskip visibility in the progress bar is one that I'm very anxious to see implemented.

How about something like this?  Ideally a different color or a lighter green between markers would be nice but just the markers alone would go a long way!!

Thanks for considering!!!
