Mine is under 1.5%, but I'm running on an i7. 70% seems high nonetheless.

MC is probably doing some other background task.

MC is probably doing some other background task.

How can I disable that task?

It may be doing background Audio Analysis on newly imported music or similiar. Go to Standard View and look under "Services & Plugins" > Reporter. See if anything is listed under "Processing" or "Background Tasks Currently Running".

That CPU is a dual-core processor, too. You might also try running the benchmark (Help > Benchmark...) and see what the score is.

Are you sure it's MC using the CPU?  I had high CPU usage issues with an old laptop after upgrading to Windows 10, when the PC was idle some background processes like "system and compressed memory" and "runtime broker" would easily send my cpu to 50-70% and yes they would both do it while running MC in Theater View.  The only way i was able to fix it was to tweak a registry setting sort of disabling runtime broker and then disable the pagefile to take care of the system and compressed memory problem.
