I'm trying to look up some documentary titles, but the Get Movie and TV Info tool fails (eventually the Media Center not responding message come up).
I cleared the log, tried to do a lookup, then after restarting MC captured a log.

I've been having the same issue for a few days now with series.
I had this happen a few weeks back but by the time I went to troubleshoot it had fixed itself.

I am having the same problem. I upgraded over the weekend from MC19. Movie and TV info worked at that time, but now does not. It still is working on MC19. Any suggestions?

I'm on a mac - late 2013 MacBook Pro 15", dual graphics and this happened to me yesterday. I sent some files to my media drive and jriver started to auto import then stopped getting the film information. From then it wouldn't find movie information and would hang on the background process. Cancelling caused the mac beach all and crash. I forced quit, then rebooted, then tried an earlier library then reinstalled mc22 all without fixing. Mc19 worked ok. Eventually after trying to fix for a couple of hours it started working and stopped hanging.

All seemed ok however today after sorting out my files I tried looking up the information for the four part quatermass tv series and as it started looking up it stopped responding. I cancelled the lookup and it crashed. Re-opened and will look up tv shows but for movies it hangs then crashes.

I have not had this problem before. Reporter shows mc running the background process running "get movie and tv info" but it gets stuck.

Not running a skin, mod or anything. No antivirus etc to cause a problem.

Sorry I know I am on a MAC (also have windows version where I keep my music on another computer) but I did a search and found this report which seemed to be relevant. Please let me know if I should report this on a Mac thread

I have just caused a crash by trying to look up one movie information. The system did not start to look up as I typed, then when I pressed search MC22 crashed to spinning beachball and I had to force quit. I enclose the log file after the crash.

I had a few freezes today too. On two different PCs. Tried it again 30 minutes later and it was very slow, but it finally did work. I am pretty sure it's a server problem.

Interesting. I tried three files simultaneously, two tv shows and a film. The film caused the problem but the tv shows were ok, it processed 2 of the three then stuck! Also slow would be ok and sometimes the look up function has a problem accessing the server, but in these cases it seems more as it looks like it crashes

I don't know enough to disagree though!

In any case, MC has a problem. It should do the server lookup on a thread and not freeze the UI.

As yet no answer.

Seems to have resolved with Build 72 but I didn't see mention of a specific fix in the build notes. Hopefully, when that one is released publicly, you'll see an improvement.

As well, FWIW, I made non adjustments to my internet security setup.

I am on build 71. It does work VERY VERY slowly for shows, but with movies it is completely unusable. I've waited 10+ minutes and nothing happens. When I click to close/cancel, it crashes.

Thanks for the comments, good to know it's not just me. In addition as it is a cross platform issue (Mac user) and I am not running security apart from standard OS firewall with a completely standard set up with no plug-ins and have the same issue that may help eliminate suspicion it's a security/ anti-virus issue from user setup!

Just about to post the same thing.

I'm sending logs to help you while the log only contains the issue and it just happened. if you ask a few days past I will not have a fresh log for you.
If you don't want them just delete the e-mail.

We can't afford to chase every problem that any user has. Many of the problems, including this one, are not related to MC.

I agree that MC should not crash, but there are a lot of pieces underneath MC that need to be reliable. Sometimes they aren't.

I agree, but in this case, the server seems to have been hung.
