In the mood? (poll)
« on: July 17, 2003, 04:46:30 pm »

I've recently started to fill in the 'mood' field for my music. As I was lacking inspiration then, I just started using the moods defined in Moodlogic (Aggressive,Upbeat,Happy,Mellow, and Sad). Needless to say, I soon faced existential questions when trying to decide for some of my tunes. Even worse than when trying to fill in genres if you see what I mean...

I was wondering if some of you guys would like to help by sharing the moods you've been using so far. Hope I won't figure I'm the only one to use it...

Listening to: 'Cheap Thrills (Underdog Remix) (New Kingdom)' from 'Back To Mine' by 'Morcheeba' on Media Center 9.1

Thanks JimH!

I have a few of those. Although I still could do a smartlist with intensity 1 and bpm < 60.  ;)

Good suggestion. I'll try to leave those on cd's, in a closet, in the basement

Well, that's my overall state of being  ;D
I need 'sub-moods'

I just love this one. I'm eager to know what you have in this one!

I needed this one to find something to play with each new build of MC. Daily use hopefully.  ;)

Rather than use mood or genre, I use Custom1 to populate "mood-based" smartlists. The "mood tags" that I have so far are:

Happy
Dark
Angry
Heavy
Soft
Pop

As well as decade-based tags--e.g. 90's, 80's, 70's, etc...

I place the tags into custom1 and the smartlist has a rule like "custom1=happy". If custom1 contains the string "happy", the song shows up in the playlist. The advantage of this method, to me, is that I can assign a song to multiple "moods" or "genres" by putting both tags into the custom 1 field. Of course, I certainly could use the "mood" tag for the same purpose.

Why use custom1?

Create a new field name thats more appropriately named and make it a list type.

Then a song can be in 'upbeat' as well as 'fast' or something.

By seperating it into speed as well as mood it'd probably help make that growing list a lot smaller and by having it as a list type it wont have to be a case of: is this A or is it B, it can be both!
