cue files and whole album single flac file

i recently noticed that my MC 21 doesnt show individual tracks for albums where there is a whole album large flac file and a cue file in the same folder. i checked the instructions and i can confirm that the "cue" file type is enabled in auto-import's advanced folder options. I then installed MC v23 trial version and hey presto, all the individual tracks are listed within albums.  Can anyone advise why this might be happening and how i can get MC 21 to behave?
