new standard tag window in 23.0.36 - genre field issue
« on: August 18, 2017, 07:06:34 am »

With the new update making the new tagging window standard, I found the genre tag doesn't work as it previously did.

In the old tagging window, I'd tag the genre as

"rock; pop; glam metal"

And the release would show up in all three genres.

In the new tagging window that still works if I type it in manually. But if I click on the genre window to copy and paste (say, copy the genre tag from the main album to paste it on to the single from that album) the new tag window removes the semi-colons and it creates the new genre "rock pop glam metal", which is obviously not what I want.

Any way to tell the new tag window to respect the semi-colon?

When I uploaded it to 23.0.36, a malfunction of tag editing occurred
To that end I returned to 23.0.30

I don't want to rollback, and now that I'm using it, I actually really like the new tagging window.

I just think it's a small bug that when I click on the genre text field in the new tagging window, it strips out the semi-colons and I don't know why it's doing that. That's all I'm reporting here.

It still works, it just doesn't show the semi-colons in the tag window field.  If you hover over the field, it will show each genre on it's own line and if you view the genre in list view it still shows the proper semi-colons.  I tried using your example and it worked for me:

1. Copy the genre field "rock; pop; glam metal" from a track in the list view
2. Open the tag window for a different track and paste that into the Genre field
3. It shows correctly in the list view for that track and if I search any of the genres rock, pop, glam metal, those tracks show up.

Is there anything I'm missing?

OK, I see that if you do editing within the new Genre tag field it can mess up your previous multiple genre selections.  I'll look into it.

We will fix it.
