JRemote on wifi not connected to internet

I stream music from JFK Ed to my devialet amp via wifi on modem not connected to the internet. I cannot get jremote to control when connected to the same network. Is there a solution?

xubuntu lts 14.04 32 bit, running mc22.0.36 as anything later doesn't work properly over vnc. using linux mc22 as media server to windows mc22 last version / jremote on ipad.

I am running media center on a toshiba laptop which is connected to a private apple wifi not connected to the internet.  The devialet amp is also connected to apple private wifi.  I stream music directly.  I am trying to control with jremote on my iPad also connected to the private wifi but I cannot get jremote to connect to media center.

You can use the IP address of MC instead of the Access Key.

Embarrassed but I don’t know how to get the IP address for MC on this private network?

If your using Windows,open up a command window
in search ,type CMD, that opens your command window.
Type ipconfig....
